SOCIAL SPECIALIST
Description
TFT is seeking an experienced an motivated professional to expand our work, helping clients in the palm oil industry source and produce responsible products. This is a full-time senior position based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The position is open to Malaysian Nationals only.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assess clients’ labour standards using TFT’s 12 No-Exploitation Principles and Guidelines
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to create strong social management programmes for clients
  • In collaboration with clients, implement social guidelines related to human rights (migrant rights), land tenure and land rights, health and safety
  • Formulate training modules, deliver training for implementation of social principles and guidelines
  • Work as part of a team to assist clients in upholding social standards within their entities
  • Coordinate with relevant organisations (e.g. government authorities, civil society organisations) and consultants on social issues
  • Write reports for internal and external audiences on work carried out in relation to social matters
  • Prepare concept notes and proposals related to social management work
Qualifications
  • Master or Bachelor degree in related fields (qualified RSPO auditors and those with social audit backgrounds will be favourably considered)
  • Minimum four years working experience on rights based issues
  • Wide knowledge and understanding of social and environmental issues related to palm oil production
  • Ability to work with businesses on certification issues
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Programmes
Desired Qualification (but not essential)
Social standard auditor certification/accreditation (SA8000, RSPO, FSC, OHSAS 8001, etc
