The ABA Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) seeks a Deputy Director for its Europe and Eurasia Division. This position works extensively with the Division Director, headquarters staff, field staff, donors, and partners. ABA ROLI’s Europe and Eurasia Division currently has offices in the following countries: 1. Armenia 2. Azerbaijan 3. Georgia 4. Kazakhstan 5. Kosovo 6. Kyrgyzstan 7. Moldova 8. Russia 9. Macedonia 10. Tajikistan 11. Turkmenistan 12. Ukraine
Responsibilities Include: • Provide oversight and direction for Europe and Eurasia legal reform programs in the field while developing and expanding its grant-funded program portfolio. • Ensure quality program delivery; make sure that programs are responsive to the needs of host-country partners. • Make decisions regarding problems or opportunities both in the field and domestically. • Represent the Europe and Eurasia Division with donors and partners. • Assist the Direction with overseeing development and growth. • Manage the Europe and Eurasia Division staff in Washington, DC (approximately 8-10 staff members). • Financial management of program grants and division funds. • Business development to find new funding for new programs.
Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in a relevant field (international relations, political science, Europe & Eurasian studies, etc) or a J.D. • 8-10 years of experience in a non-profit setting managing grant related programs. • Previous experience managing and mentoring junior staff members. • Superb organization and time management skills. • An excellent sense of humor and ability to remain poised under pressure.
