the people of the Solomon Islands – a Pacific Island nation with a
population of approximately 500,000 people.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Planning, and working
alongside the Procurement and Infrastructure Unit Managers, key
objectives of this stimulating role are: to support the Procurement Unit
in the Ministry to manage central infrastructure project procurement
functions; support the infrastructure unit to manage contracts and
implement infrastructure projects; assist, mentor and build capacity of
staff, and, support the establishment of an in-sourced construction
management firm within the Ministry of Health & Medical Services.

- Extensive experience in public infrastructure procurement and contract management.
- Experience in drafting bills of quantities, terms of reference and working with technical drawings and architectural designs and specifications.
- Knowledge of procurement and infrastructure standards and regulations, preferably in a developing country.
- Demonstrated success in working effectively in a team to achieve organisational priorities and build institutional and individual capacity in a cross cultural setting.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain constructive and effective relationships
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
This position is part of the Pacific Technical Assistance Mechanism
(PACTAM), which places highly-skilled deployees in the Pacific to assist
local employers to meet their human resource need and contribute to
building capacity in the workplace. The allowances include AUD$120,000 p.a., relocation and accommodation allowances, airfares and insurance.
