Chemonics International Inc. seeks experienced, short-term
Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist for a project funded by the
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Indonesia Marine and Climate
Support (IMACS). This project aims to support the Government of Indonesia in
improving the sustained management of marine ecosystems by providing technical
support for key marine activities with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and
Fisheries (MMAF), local communities, and the private sector.
The
objective of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Specialist assignment is
to establish a set of clear and concise guidelines to assist civil society groups
to obtain and manage corporate sponsorship funds. These guidelines must reflect
the legal situation — for example it is unlikely that local government agencies
can legally receive or manage sponsorship funds. These guidelines should
explore innovative solutions and financing arrangements that would reassure
sponsors that their investments are sound. Finally, these guidelines must be
appropriate for the capabilities and capacities of the end users.
The CSR
Specialist will complete the following tasks:
- Attend an assignment inception meeting and assignment close out meeting at IMACS.
- Establish effective working relationship with key stakeholders agreed with IMACS, including but not limited to DKPs, MMAF, selected civil society groups (e.g., I-Fish Data Management Committees, POKMASWAS, climate change adaptation committees), and potential corporate sponsors (both in Jakarta and in the target areas of SULTRA and NTB).
- Map the needs and interests of each group in establishing a corporate sponsorship program (e.g., what conditions would need to be met for a potential corporate sponsor to engage);
- Review the legal, institutional and financial considerations related to establishing such a corporate sponsorship program. Where possible, collate case studies and examples of similar financing mechanisms that have been established in other sectors in Indonesia, and review their successes and weaknesses.
- Prepare recommendations and guidelines to assist civil society groups to operationalize a corporate sponsorship program. These guidelines must consist of a thorough technical report, with accompanying handbooks suitable for key target audiences, including but not limited to DKPs, select civil society groups, and corporate sponsors.
Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years of legal/financing/corporate social responsibility experience with demonstrated experience in establishing corporate sponsorship programs preferred
- Demonstrated ability to analyze legal, institutional and financial considerations related to Corporate Social Responsibility for the development of corporate sponsorship programming
- Successful experience working in a diverse, fast-paced environment
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia required
