Organisational Background
ECPAT
International is a global network of organisations and individuals
working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child
pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes. It
seeks to encourage the world community to ensure that children
everywhere enjoy their fundamental rights free and secure from all forms
of commercial sexual exploitation.
The
ECPAT network currently has 82 member organizations in 75 countries in
Africa, Americas, Europe and the CIS, Asia and the Pacific. All of these
members are independent organisations or coalitions working against the
commercial sexual exploitation of children. The ECPAT Secretariat
coordinates the global work of ECPAT International and is based in
Bangkok, Thailand. The Secretariat designs programmes, advocacy and
strategies to facilitate a range of network initiatives to make the
greatest impact on combating Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children
(CSEC).
The
Capacity Building Officer position will be based in ECPAT’ Secretariat,
in Bangkok, Thailand. ECPAT International’s history is rooted in
advocacy strategies to combat child pornography online with extensive
work over the years to put this issue on the global agenda. ECPAT’s
Programme to Combat Sexual Exploitation of Children Online (SECO
programme) promotes a multi-stakeholder approach through working closely
with civil society organizations, law enforcement, government and
inter-governmental entities and the private sector, in addressing this
issue at all levels. One main aspect of the SECO programme is capacity
building of our network members through the use of both face-to-face and
online training strategies in addition to the production of written
inputs that can feed into the work of the programme and contribute to
its positioning on the global agenda in the field.
Job purpose
The
Capacity Building Officer will lead the development of
capacity-building and awareness-raising contents and carry out capacity
building training for the ECPAT member groups and partners. The main
tasks and responsibilities are detailed below.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Development of training/awareness-raising contents
- Develop the content of position papers, background papers, and training modules;
- Recommend and define methodological aspects related to content-delivery, both when online and face-to-face (focus, target audience, duration, language, appropriate format, graphic design, etc.);
- Write the content with proper defined learning objectives;
- Ensure alignment of the content with the SECO programme strategy directions and synergy with other programme strategies;
- Ensure the deliverables are achieved based on agreed work plans and timelines;
- Ongoing assessment of relevance and pertinence of the content delivered;
Act as trainer (face-to-face and remotely)
Liaise with the SECO
programme team and when appropriate, with ECPAT network members and
external stakeholders such as private sector partners (specifically from
the IT sector), governments, intergovernmental bodies, international
organizations, law enforcement agencies, and (I)NGOs, in order to:
- Deliver training content, face-to-face and remotely, on specific aspects of the sexual exploitation of children online;
- Lead in organizing or co-organizing the training and awareness-raising activities;
- Build and strengthen participants´ knowledge of aspects linked to the sexual exploitation of children online as identified in the programme;
- Monitor and identify methodological aspects of the training strategy that should be improved;
- Represent ECPAT SECO programme at capacity-building face-to-face events;
- Identify opportunities for content development aligned with the SECO programme´s objectives and priority areas:
- Actively promote the goals of the SECO programme;
Profile
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in education, social science, international development, or related area;
- Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible and relevant professional experience working in the fields of capacity building and/or education at the national and/or regional and (preferably) international level;
- Relevant experience in the field of international development, human rights, and non-governmental organisations;
- Demonstrated thematic knowledge of child rights and preferably of sexual exploitation of children online;
- Demonstrated experience acting as a trainer/instructor;
- Demonstrated understanding of content development in a multi-channel world;
- Publication record of training materials is a plus;
- Excellent English language skills, good command of French /Spanish/ Russian is a plus.
- Knowledge or experience in designing e-learning modules and in developing online awareness-raising strategies is a plus;
- Graphic design skills and knowledge of instructional design is a plus;
