Onsite Elephant & Forest Guide
Position available at
ELIE’s Elephant Valley Project
www.elephantvalleyproject.org
12km from Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri, Cambodia
Description
Here at the Elephant Valley Project visitors and volunteers are the
key aspect to this project, after the elephants of course. We have day
visitors, short term independent travelers, week long group programs and
long term volunteers. All visitors and volunteers visit the elephants
and watch them in their natural habitat, while volunteering onsite to
continue to develop the site for elephant care.
We are currently looking to fill the position of Onsite Elephant and
Forest Guide, to take daily tours to visit the elephants and engage
these visitors in an interpretive way, educating them on the elephants,
forest conservation and local community development programs.
The position will be based onsite, helping with the day-to-day tour
program of visitors, Sun evening to Fri afternoon. Please note there is a
lot of hiking involved across tough terrain to get to the elephants,
sometimes between 2-5km per day while also talking to and engaging with
visitors, therefore you will need to be fit and energetic. We will
provide your own room and food onsite, which is 12km from town. Please
note the site has limited electricity and no internet access. You will
then also receive a local salary to help you cover your expenses, as
food and accommodation in town on the weekend will be at your own cost.
An initial commitment of 6 months is required as a minimum, however we
would prefer 1 year, or longer for the right person. We are looking for
someone to start as soon as possible.
