The USAID/Higher Education
Leadership and Management (HELM) project was awarded to Chemonics International
on November 28, 2011. The five year project was designed to support Indonesia’s
Higher Education (HE) sector in increasing its quality and relevance through
improved focus on administration and management capacity. For further

We are seeking qualified Indonesian
professional for a ‘Junior Accounting Assistant [JAA]’.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Junior Accounting Assistant is responsible for preparing appropriate and
correct documentation for payment transactions under direction of Senior
Finance Manager. He/she will work closely with Project Accountant and Finance
Officer for maintaining an accounting database and securing financial filing
systems.
Specific tasks:
The Junior Accounting Assistant will be responsible for the following:
- Maintaining the project’s accounting file system, ensuring all vouchers are in order, completed correctly, have bank slips/copy of checks attached, and other supporting documents are required.
- Receiving and processing local invoices for approval payment to vendor or employees.
- Assist in preparing documentation for payment transactions including but not limited to advances, petty cash voucher, in-house transfer, checks and transfer form. Ensuring all transactions are supported with proper and complete documents and are alignment with Chemonics and USAID standard procedures.
- Ensuring all transactions are entered into the correct account billing code and then ensuring proper distribution to the correct CLIN.
- Assist in preparing coding sheet and journal entries for posting purposes in Abacus.
- Maintaining accurate filing systems that ensure compliance with auditing practices.
- As directed by Senior Finance Manager, assist in providing a calculation of withholding information for suppliers, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders according to the Indonesian tax regulations.
- Complying with all HELM project policies and procedures as noted in the Indonesia Country Policy Manual and FACT training manual.
- Performing other duties as requested by Senior Finance Manager or his/her designee.
Specific requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting is a must.
- Minimum 1 year working experience as an Accountant in Accounting Firm. USAID or other international donor experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word. Also, experience with accounting software programs such as QuickBooks and Abacus preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia required.
- Must possess excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communications skills.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well on teams.
- Must be interested in working with a multi-cultural, international team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
