Climate and Energy Programme Officer
WWF is the world’s largest and most experienced independent conservation organization. WWF-Turkey is the national organization of WWF. In line with the universal efforts to mitigate climate change, the main objective of the Climate and Energy Programme of WWF-Turkey is to achieve the transition to a climate resilient, low carbon society and economy.

WWF-Turkey is seeking a Climate and Energy Programme Officer. The successful candidate will report to Climate and Energy Programme Supervisor and contribute to WWF-Turkey’s efforts for scaling up sustainable renewable energy and enable transition to low carbon development pathways in Turkey.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out relevant project activities, prepare technical and financial reports. 
  • Gather intelligence and follow climate & energy policies.
  • Represent WWF-Turkey in various fora, do lobby and advocacy work.
  • Coordinate and communicate with different stakeholders (other NGOs, decision makers in local and national levels, private sector).
  • Contribute to fundraising efforts related to relevant subject areas.
  • Work closely with fundraising and communication departments.
  • Seek opportunities to develop new projects.
  • Conduct research or analysis in policy areas.
  • Event management for relevant project activities.
Required Qualifications
  • A technical, business or administrative university degree in a relevant discipline. Possession of a postgraduate degree is a plus. 
  • At least 3 years professional experience in energy policy, renewable energy development, climate policy, low carbon frameworks, climate change mitigation or adaptation, carbon footprint accounting, sustainability or any other relevant issue.
  • Previous experience in project design and management.
  • Experience in report writing, press releases etc.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to maintain and develop a range of contacts to build effective working relationships and networks and links to relevant government agencies, state departments, other NGOs and private sector. 
  • Good communication, negotiation and networking skills appropriate for multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good analytical and policy advocacy skills.
  • Possession of open and flexible approach to new ideas, drawing on them and on experience.
  • Ability to set and meet challenging goals and seek long term improvements.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines, without compromising the quality of work.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent written and spoken Turkish and English.
  • Very good command of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Eagerness to work for nature conservation.
  • Be comfortable with frequent travelling and/or field work.
This position will be based in either Istanbul or Ankara. The position requires frequent travelling.
