The OPT Campaign Internship is a new position that was created in May
2014. Its main aims are : to support the ongoing campaign and to expand
the work it is currently doing by developing new tools for campaigning
and by taking a lead in strategic planning. The work is highly dependent
on the intern's determination to commit to the position and to support
the expansion of the campaign's capacity.
The OPT Campaign Intern may engage in several of the tasks outlined
below, in addition to upcoming topics, challenges or tasks. The OPT
Campaign aims to respond to the changing situation on the ground
according to the Section’s goals and work-plans.
Internship Objectives
• Support the OPT Campaigner in advancing the campaign’s short and
long-term objectives • Contribute to raising awareness on human rights
violations in the OPT and other related concerns within the Israeli and
international community • Advocate for Amnesty's positions and policies
relevant to the OPT • Encourage and promote the active participation of
different Israeli audiences in AI Israel’s OPT campaign
Duties
Enhancing the presence of the OPT Campaign within Amnesty Israel •
Assist in internal presentations of the OPT Campaign to staff and
interns • Provide internal communications and updates on Amnesty OPT
Campaign, including projects and cases • Foster internal mobilisation of
support to the campaign – for example organise events, screenings, send
updates to staff and board, share Amnesty's position on ongoing cases,
share information on outside events etc. • Review of outgoing e-mails
and documents in English • Answering queries from the staff
Implementation of the OPT Campaign goals
• Provide a supportive role in campaigning, lobbying, and building
activist networks with regards to the OPT campaign, for instance by
organizing a series of awareness-raising events ; • Help draft strategic
documents for the campaign with long-term and short-term objectives; •
Maintain Amnesty's presence among OPT-related activities, events and
protests through participation and networking; • Maintain, update and
implement the OPT-related calendar, including coordinating Amnesty
Israel's action on the day (sending information letters and planning
events)
Monitoring of OPT-related issues • Daily monitoring of
English-speaking media on OPT-related issues; • Providing daily updates
on relevant campaigns and cases, news, upcoming events etc; Management
of the internship position • Update and enhance the OPT introduction
folder and the job description • Handle the transition process with next
generation of intern
General • Attending individual, program department and staff meetings
