Responsible for: Supporting MAP’s projects in Palestine
Location: Ramallah, West Bank.
Duration and Hours:One year, full time
MAP is a UK-based charity which works for the health and dignity of
Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. Established 30
years ago, MAP works with local partners to provide health care to
Palestinians worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement.
With offices in London, Beirut, Gaza City and Ramallah, MAP responds
rapidly in times of crises, and works directly with communities on
longer term health development.
We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic intern to join our small
West Bank team from October 2014. You will live and work in Ramallah
and be responsible for supporting the office and the MAP team on
programme, logistic and administrative activities. The role will provide
varied experience including exposure to MAP’s emergency and health
development projects with local partners. It will involve writing
proposals and reports, support for programme managers, liaison with
other agencies and arranging and supporting visits, permits and visa
applications. The post will also provide exposure to the wider working
and coordination mechanisms of the UN and international NGOs working in
the context of an on-going conflict and prolonged occupation.
The position may be of particular interest to recent Masters
graduates in humanitarian, international development or Middle Eastern
studies, or prospective students, or those wishing to pursue further
studies who require appropriate field experience to complement their
studies.
You must be resilient and resourceful, comfortable with the idea of
living in a conflict zone. You will have good first degree and
