Responsible for: Supporting the development and management of MAP’s programmes in Palestine and Lebanon
Location: Islington, London.
Hours: Full time
Salary: £25k per annum plus pension contribution
MAP is a UK-based charity which works for the health and dignity of
Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. Established 30
years ago, MAP works with local partners to provide health care to
Palestinians worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement.
With offices in London, Beirut, Gaza City and Ramallah, MAP responds
rapidly in times of crises, and works directly with communities on
longer term health development.
We are looking for a Programme Officer to join our small London team.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for
supporting the senior management team and the trustees in the monitoring
and evaluation of current projects and the development of new ones.
This will involve close liaison with the field staff on existing
projects; ensuring effective project reporting; maintaining a data-base
of project information; and supporting the field teams to develop new
project proposals. You will also be responsible for researching
opportunities for institutional funding, for liaison with donors and for
drafting proposals and reports.
This role will suit someone seeking to make a career in humanitarian
and/or international development work. You will have good first degree
and preferably a higher degree in development studies or equivalent. You
must have at least two years relevant work experience, in the UK or
overseas, preferably in the non-profit sector. You will be an excellent
communicator and drafter and good team worker. Knowledge of the region
and of Arabic is an advantage. The post is based in London but will
involve travel to Lebanon and/ or Palestine 1-2 times per year.
