WaterAid
is an international non-governmental organisation whose mission is to
transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and
sanitation to the world’s poorest communities. We’re looking to recruit a
Regional Advocacy Manager – Southern Africa reporting directly to the
Head of Southern Africa Region.
As
the Regional Advocacy Manager you’ll provide thought leadership and
manage regional initiatives around advocacy, policy analysis and
research. WaterAid is looking for a motivated individual who understands
how to inspire and provoke change.
You’ll
have a post-graduate/Master’s degree in Development Studies, Law,
Public Policy/Administration or equivalent with a demonstrable
commitment to poverty reduction and social justice issues. Fluent in
English with an understanding of French and Portuguese as an added
advantage, you’ll have proven experience of advocacy and campaigns work
in the region.
You’ll
also have an understanding of technical, social and institutional
issues relating to water, sanitation and hygiene promotion in developing
countries. You’ll also be knowledgeable of development policies,
especially the water and sanitation sector, with extensive senior-level
experience of action research and policy analysis, preferably in an
international agency based in the region. An understanding and knowledge
of rights-based approaches and programming is essential.
