Evaluation Team Sought for Maternal and Child Health Project in Malawi

Women and Children First (UK) and the Perinatal Project of the Ministry of Health Malawi, Ntcheu District, (PCP) seek an external evaluation team to evaluate a Comic Relief funded 5-year project implemented by PCP.

The project is to improve the health and reduce the mortality of women and children in Ntcheu District through a range of community-based interventions in a project population of approximately 80,000 in 144 villages. It has also implemented a range of facility-based interventions in the 14 health facilities serving the project population.

The aim of this evaluation is to understand what differences the project made on the lives of mothers and children and how these differences were brought about.

Expected deliverables include:

• Detailed final methodology and tools used for the evaluation.
• A draft report for discussion.
• A final report following consultation with PCP, Women and Children First UK and Comic Relief.

The evaluation will commence on 1st September 2014 and the final report is due on 31st December 2014 at 12:00 GMT.

The total budget, including local costs and international travel, is a maximum of £25,530.
