Harmoneat is a social business based on Yangon which aims to bring people together through food. We use revenue from our cooking classes and tourism services to run a community food truck, which runs events like cooking demonstrations, supports community-building activities like festivals and helps promote locally-sourced, sustainable food to local communities. Harmoneat works with a diverse network to achieve our mission of building healthy communities including local youth networks, entrepreneurs, businesses and NGOs. Your role
The International Project Co-ordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Harmoneat Business Plan (2014). The International Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for the day to day management of Harmoneat operations – both the business and the community-building elements. This includes recruitment, management of and mentoring of local staff, stakeholder liaison, activity planning, budget management, establishment of operational systems, grant applications and reporting. The International Project Co-ordinator will work with the Harmoneat team to plan, implement and monitor a range of activities designed to achieve Harmoneat’s mission of building healthy communities while ensuring growth in Harmoneat’s business operations (tourism service and cooking classes). The International Project Co-ordinator will work closely with the Harmoneat Directors who maintain strategic oversight on Harmoneat’s operations.

Your role

- Mentor and build capacity of Harmoneat staff
- Assist in establishing Harmoneat operations – per the Harmoneat Business Plan
- Build partnerships and networks with relevant businesses, NGOs and youth groups
- Support the development of funding proposals for Harmoneat’s community-building work
- Support the development of operational procedures to ensure Harmoneat’s business success
- Oversee implementation of Harmoneat Business Plan
- Oversee the operations of the Harmoneat community food truck and the Harmoneat community kitchen
- Assist in planning marketing strategies/working with Harmoneat Australia on advocacy messages
- Design, plan, implement and monitor community-building activities related to Harmoneat’s vision
- Undertake strategic planning to ensure growth of the business
- Manage and plan events
- Be the liaison point between national staff and Harmoneat Directors
We need a motivated individual with a high degree of initiative and an interest in social business. You will be:
- Interested in working with a social business/social enterprise and sympathetic to the values and mission of Harmoneat
- Experienced in Project Management/Co-ordination with experience in designing and managing operational systems, managing budgets, recruiting and mentoring staff and completing projects to budget and time.
- Relevant university degree (international development, project management, social work, peace and conflict, business) desirable
- Experience working in peacebuilding, community-building or international development
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (some Burmese language desirable)
- Have excellent planning skills, be able to prioritise a range of competing tasks.
