- Salary negotiable depending on skills and experience
- Permanent post
- This post can be based in one of five possible locations: UK (London), USA (Washington DC), Kenya (Nairobi), Jordan (Amman) or Nepal (Kathmandu).
Older people are some of the most
vulnerable people in conflicts and disaster contexts. As population
ageing transforms developing as well as developed countries, more and
more older people are affected by humanitarian crises. Yet too often,
humanitarian responses fail to provide them with the assistance and
protection they need and to which they are entitled.
This is an exciting opportunity to join
HelpAge International – the only international humanitarian and
development organisation dedicated to older people – to ensure that
older people receive healthcare and nutrition support. By providing
strategic direction, leadership and coordination to HelpAge’s programmes
and policy work, you will help to make the international humanitarian
system more inclusive of older people and more principled and impartial
in its response to the most vulnerable.
The ideal candidate will have a higher
degree or post qualification in health and /or nutrition and knowledge
of vulnerabilities and determinants of health with a focus on older
people. You will also have substantial experience of developing and
implementing health and nutrition programmes in conflict and disaster
settings and of providing technical advice and support to teams,
including needs assessments, programme design and monitoring and
advocacy. You will be able and willing to travel 100 days a year,
sometimes at short notice.
In your covering letter, please state which of these locations you
would be based in and confirm that you already have the right to work in
that country.
Closing date: Wednesday, 9 December 2015
Start date: ASAP
