DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. We
work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities and

Our everyday work with development and relief aid strives to help the
oppressed, neglected and marginalized groups in our focus countries in
Asia, the Middle East, and Africa to strengthen their possibilities of a
life in dignity.
In Nepal and Bangladesh, we are involved in several thematic areas
with our work focusing on resilient livelihood, active citizenship and
migrants’ rights, among others. The DCA SARO invites applications from
qualified and competent candidates for the following positions based in
Kathmandu.
1) Head of Programs:
This is a senior level position. The person will be the part of the
Regional Management Team and will assist the Regional Representative in
overall management and delivery of DCA’s programme in SARO.
S/he will lead DCA SARO’s portfolio (priority themes – resilient
livelihood, active citizenship, migrant rights and humanitarian program
plus cross cutting themes). S/he will be mainly responsible for
programme strategy development, management, planning, and implementation
of the projects in close coordination with Regional Programme Officers
and the SARO team. S/he will be also be responsible for program design,
mentoring, monitoring, reporting, sharing of skills and lessons learnt,
capacity development, knowledge management, partnership development,
fund raising, quality assurance and policy compliance.
S/he will supports and report to the Regional Representative (RR) in
cultivating relationships with donors, NGO’s, government and other
stakeholders for advocacy and fundraising.
Required qualifications and competencies:
Master’s degree in relevant subject and other relevant discipline with 10 years of relevant work experience.
Strong understanding about the human rights approach to development
and humanitarian work and conceptual clarity about the priority and
cross cutting themes mentioned above.
The required competencies include
the ability to work in an organized and responsive manner under extreme
pressure on occasion in a stressful environment, conversant in strategic
management, project cycle management, policy advocacy, fund raising and
knowledge management, good knowledge of financial and human resources
management.
The right candidate also needs to have analytical ability, problem
solving, coaching, mentoring and supervision skills, be result oriented,
be an excellent team player and have good decision making skills.
Similarly, the successful candidate has the ability to plan her/his own
work and to manage conflicting priorities while work under pressure, and
is good at working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve
organizational goals. S/he has excellent communication skills (written
and spoken) in English with Nepali skills a strong advantage.
2) Regional Fundraising Coordinator:
This is a senior level position. The person will be part of the
Regional Management Team and will be responsible for developing and
updating our funding strategy annually as well as a plan of action
across development and humanitarian programming under SARO.
S/he will support and advise programme team on country context
analysis, programme design, partners’ assessments, partner proposal
reviews. S/he will provide technical assistance for registration of all
potential back donor partners in the Europe Aid system – PADOR. S/he
will explore and facilitate development of consortia of relevant INGOs,
UN agencies and ACT members, including support for joint projects with
potential stakeholders to optimize opportunities for fund raising.
S/he will maintain close relationships with donors, explore new
donors and establish contact with them. S/he will be also responsible to
carry out the research, develop concept notes and proposal and build
capacity of staff and partners in fund raising. S/he will ensure quality
assurance and donor/policy compliances.
Required qualifications and competencies:
Master’s
degree in relevant discipline with 10 years of relevant work experience.
Should have strategic analysis skills for fundraising, be knowledgeable
about the funding market, current trends, donor priorities and
procedures.
The required competencies include ability to work in an
organized and responsive manner under extreme pressure on occasion in a
stressful environment, conversant in strategic management, project cycle
management, experience in mobilizing private funds, knowledge
management, good knowledge of financial management, analytical ability,
problem solving, coaching, mentoring skills, be result oriented, and an
excellent team player.
Similarly, s/he will be a dynamic networker able
to establish successful relationships and contacts with donors, NGO’s,
and other key players in the fundraising sphere. S/he will have the
ability to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities under
pressure of tight deadlines, working collaboratively with colleagues to
achieve organizational goals and excellent communication skills (written
and spoken) in English with Nepali language skills an advantage too.
3) Communication Officer (Short term employment):
S/he will lead in communication and documentation of earthquake
emergency programme and will be responsible for producing produce
visibility materials, the production of videos, animations, brochures,
and leaflets for the programme.
S/he will be responsible to write case
studies, reports update website, facebook page and be responsible for
documentation, database management and media coordination for the
programme.
S/he will be also responsible to build the capacity of
partners to strengthen communication and documentation and ensure the
dissemination of messages regarding DCA’s earthquake response to the
widest possible audience.
The position is based in Kathmandu, and the position requires till the end of June 2016.
Required qualifications and competencies:
Master’s
degree in a relevant subject (preferably in English and
journalism/communication) with minimum two years of relevant work
experience and fluent English Language skills. The required competencies
include ability to work in an organized and responsive manner, good
knowledge in database management, excellent communication skill (written
and spoken) in both English and Nepali, the ability to successfully run
and edit websites as well as engage with, and upload to, social media
platforms.
Candidates with videography/photography skill would add
value.
The candidate must have personal commitment to social equity and

needs people with excellent interpersonal communication skills and a
good sense of humour and team spirit. Willingness to be flexible is
essential.
