General DescriptionThe
Programme Officer (Capacity Development) will report to Head of
Capacity Development. The officer will undertake activities that will
support strengthening the organisational and technical capacity of CSO
partners in such fields as governance, financial management and
sustainability, administration, monitoring and evaluation, advocacy, and
constituency building; the provision of training to emergent CSO
leaders; and other forms of training, grants and technical assistance.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and implementation of WACSI’s Capacity Development programmes;
- Design and manage institutional assessment tools, training and technical support;
- Participate in unit and cross-unit programme/project planning and proposal development;
- Developing and drafting project work plans, reports, concept notes and other documentation, such as training and resource materials, presentations, and budget proposals;
- Troubleshooting to help identify and resolve project issues, thus ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget;
- Assist with mentoring and training interns at the Institute;
- Represent WACSI at external events, nationally and internationally, and position WACSI for expanded work in civil society strengthening;
- Such other activities as may be identified by the Head of Capacity Development in consultation with the Executive Director.
Educational Qualification & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with an advanced degree preferred;
- At least 2 years’ experience in project management and supervision;
- Demonstrated experience in organisational capacity building for CSOs, including designing and implementing trainings for CSOs, delivering organisational development technical assistance, and/or mentoring CSOs.

- Attention to detail and results oriented;
- Ability to multi-task and a team player;
- Ability to work without supervision; dynamic, self-motivated; Fluency in English and French.
