Position: Senior Fundraising Professional, North America
Location: Washington, DC (or exceptionally New York City)
Status: Full Time (40 hours per week)
Reports to: Head of Grants Fundraising (based in London)
Lumos is an international foundation established by J.K. Rowling working
to transform the lives of disadvantaged children by facilitating the
end of large-scale residential and institutional care and promoting and
developing community and family based alternatives. Across the globe, an
estimated 8 million children are living in institutions because they
are poor, disabled, or otherwise marginalized. They are separated from
family life and exposed to significant risk of harm, abuse and neglect.
This is a serious problem, but there is a solution.
To
achieve our mission, Lumos works in partnership with governments, UN
agencies, civil society, communities, families, children, and caregivers
to transform outdated and ineffective systems that drive families
apart. Together with partners, Lumos replaces institutions with family
and community-based services that provide children with access to
health, education, and social care, enabling children to develop to
their full potential.
As Lumos
expands globally we need a range of skilled professionals to work in our
diverse and international team to champion the rights of all children
to grow up within a loving family.
Following
the launch of Lumos in the USA in early 2015 this is an exciting new
opportunity based in our office in Washington DC. As a key member of the
International Fundraising Team, this role will raise funds for Lumos’
important work to end the institutionalization of children globally by
2050. Reporting to the Head of Grants Fundraising based in London and
working closely with colleagues in the UK and the USA, the job holder
will raise funds to agreed targets from a broad range of individual
donors, trusts, foundations and companies based in North America.
To take on this challenge, you’ll be a driven and results-focused individual, and have a proven track record of personally raising
funds of more than $1million annually, including identifying new donors
and building successful relationships. While a key member of our
successful international fundraising team you should also be able to
work independently in a fast changing environment.
