candidate for the position of: Consultant - Researcher
Small Holders Integration
This position reports to Palm Oil
Manager. The job holder will be responsible to undertake social
data collection and analysis and participatory engagement with smallholders and
other related stakeholders for a selected landscape in Kapuas Hulu District,
West Kalimantan province. The objective is to understand the different typologies
of smallholders and the different interactions of these smallholders with the
markets, regulations, and companies that drive their decisions towards legality
and illegality. The focus of the project is social data collection and analysis
and participatory approaches through the use of companion modelling to
understand actors, construct scenarios of change, and engage institution for
change.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated research experience in the area of sociology, political science, economics, natural resource management, ecology, geography, environmental science or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge on the social dimensions of conservation and in conducting stakeholder research.
- Experience working in low and middle-income tropical regions, in particular working in Indonesia
- Evidence of an established record of contribution to research in the form of peer-reviewed publications in the international literature.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia
Desired skills and competencies:
- A PhD in in the area of sociology, political science, economics, natural resource management, ecology, geography, environmental science or a related discipline.
- Experience in working within and/or facilitating multidisciplinary or trans disciplinary research teams
- Experience in liaising and collaborating with NGO’s and other external agencies to develop collaborative initiatives.
- Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Applicants from non-OECD countries are encouraged

- Applicant willing to spend 50% time in the office and 50% time traveling and field visit
