GENERAL BACKGROUND
As of 1st January 2014, the Regional Office in Bangkok oversees UNODC activities in 29 countries and territories across Southeast Asia and the Pacific, including programmes implemented by Country Offices in Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam. Project offices are present also in Cambodia, China and Indonesia.
Currently, the activities implemented by UNODC in Southeast Asia and the Pacific contribute to the achievement of the results envisaged in the 2014-2017 Regional Programme Framework related to Transnational Organised Crime, Anti-Corruption, Terrorism Prevention, Criminal justice systems, and Drugs and Health, and Alternative Development.
In order to react in a strategic manner, this requires the services of an experienced, international consultant with experience in delivering team building training/workshops to improve communication between all sub-programmes, strengthen relations and improve performance of the whole team.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Deliver a workshop for staff in the region that is intended to innovate and improve the type and delivery of activities throughout Southeast Asia.
SCOPE OF WORK
Under the direct supervision of UNODC ROSEAP Regional Representative, the consultant is required to design and facilitate the meeting. The consultant is expected to deliver innovative approaches to maximize the effectiveness of the meeting.

- Contribute to the overall design of the workshop methodology and agenda with the Innovation Mentor.
- Design the format of individual meeting sessions.
- Ensure that the workshop is conducted in an interactive and participatory style.
- Facilitate concrete action planning, including follow-up activities.
- Produce a brief post-meeting synopsis of the process.
- Five (5) work days from 15-19 August 2016.
- The workshop venue is Bangkok, Thailand. Pre and post-meeting/ follow up can either take place in Bangkok, Thailand or via E-mail or Skype.
Outputs:
- Overall workshop design and methodology developed.
- Agenda finalized, including methodology and formats of individual meeting sessions.
- Each session adequately prepared.
- Meeting successfully facilitated in line with the finalized agenda.
- Post-meeting synopsis produced.
The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Regional Representative.
DEGREE OF EXPERTISE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The assignment requires a consultant with the following expertise:
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in law, economics, criminology, or social science (international relations, management, public administration, political science or economics, social anthropology, etc.) or in a subject closely related/relevant to programme development/management.
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience in training delivery or event facilitation for the UN and/or other international or regional agencies.
- At least 2 years of hands-on expertise in designing or implementing methods for adult learning or strategic planning.
- At least 2 years of work experience in Southeast Asia region.
- Cultural sensitivity and experience moderating meetings of culturally diverse and international groups.
- Excellent command of English.
- Two (2) days after submission of the report.
