The opportunity:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk and Security
Manager to join the Scope Team, based in our Adelaide Head Office. The
Risk and Security Manager reports to the Senior Manager, International
Operations and is responsible for strategic leadership and overall
management of the Risk Management & Child Protection Unit, as well
as managing the development and implementation of operational risk and
security management policies, procedures, and tools with a focus on
Scope Global’s AVID and PACTAM2 Programs.
The Risk and Security Manager primarily works on Australian
Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program and the Pacific
Technical Advisors Mechanism (PACTAM2).
The Risk and Security Manager is
also responsible for effectively supporting the Enterprise Risk
Management Framework through the review of operational risk,
identification of systemic issues and advice on mitigation strategies.
This role is offered on a full-time, on-going contract basis.
The key responsibilities include:
- Providing direction and leadership for the development and implementation of operational risk management approaches for Scope Global programs, with a focus on AVID and PACTAM2.
- Identifying Risk Management Unit KPIs (including effectiveness and efficiency indicators) and monitoring performance to ensure progress is being made.
- Building risk awareness culture among Australia-based and offshore staff.
- Participation as a core member of Critical Incident Management Teams, that may require occasional extended periods of activities outside of regular business hours.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary and/or professional qualifications with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in international operations with a strong understanding of operations risk management.
- Demonstrated practical operations risk management experience and critical incident response, ideally within the context of international development programs and/or in the international context.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with a diversity of clients and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the capacity to maintain open and constructive communications, influencing a wide range of stakeholders in an international context.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, set priorities, analyse problems, formulate clear and effective solutions and coordinate a number of tasks simultaneously.
- Proven capacity to source and critically analyse the reliability and credibility of information from a range of sources, produce high quality reports and presentations, and provide advice accordingly.
- Working knowledge of issues and challenges in the international development sector together with a high level of cross-cultural awareness – preferably gained by working / living internationally.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, application of ICT solutions to risk management and computer literacy – including proficiency with databases, spreadsheet and word-processing software packages, and report writing.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while achieving deadlines under pressure.
- Experience in managing a small team of discipline specialists.
- Knowledge and experience in WHS, Child Protection, Gender in Development, quality and continuous improvement systems and process, project management and reporting systems.
