London’s

About the role
This
is an exciting opportunity to join the Richmond Park team to undertake
management of a herd of over 600 Red and Fallow deer across the 2500
acres of Richmond Park National Nature Reserve. You will also provide
support to Bushy and Greenwich Park for wildlife management duties
including pest control. Assist with Oak Processionary Moth control and
with the management of visits, events and filming. With 5.5 million
visitors per year you will assist with general visitor management
activities.
The
work duties vary during the year and regular require unsocial hours and
night working. You will be on-call 24/7 for 1 week in 4 and will need
to have an organised but flexible approach to work.
About you
Passionate
about deer and the countryside, you will hold DSC level 1 accreditation
and be seeking to attain DSC level 2. You will hold current firearms
and shot gun licenses. Your approach to Health and Safety will be
exemplary, ideally with prior experience in countryside, arboriculture
or forestry. You will hold a full driving license and ideally have
experience of off road driving, towing and use of machinery. You should
have good knowledge of nature conservation relating to deer management
and other protected species. You’ll need excellent interpersonal skills
working with colleagues, partners and the public. Tact and diplomacy are
essential.
