Job Description:
Reporting to the Project Director, the mentor is responsible for providing one-on-one mentoring and tutoring to adults that result in increased financial literacy levels, and maintaining cooperative relationships and open communication with all staff and students.

Job Responsibilities:

• Delivering one-on-one mentoring and tutoring using a variety of materials and teaching techniques to enhance student learning, achieve core indicators of performance, and maintain student interest, thereby resulting in student retention
• Monitoring student’s progress towards core indicators of performance, to include acquiring specific skills FL skills
• Maintaining confidentiality of student records and personal information at all times

Job Requirements:

• BA in counseling, social work, education, or closely related degree from an accredited college or university,
• 3 years of experience providing financial literacy education;
• Spanish language fluency;
• Demonstrated ability to work with low literacy English as a Second Language speakers;
• Demonstrated success in tutoring vulnerable populations in a community-based setting;
• Direct experience in working with low income households;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines;
• Keen attention to detail;
• Ability to provide effective follow-up on individual activities in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment;
• Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams;
• Track record of being able to produce work in a timely manner, with flexibility when necessary to adapt to changing work conditions;
