POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Technical Manager will be responsible for one or more components of an anticipated USAID/Nepal-funded food security activity seeking to improve value chain efficiency by working through and with the private sector. The activity aims to support the creation of a self-reliant, sustainable, competitive, and inclusive agriculture sector that drives economic growth and contributes to improved livelihoods and food and nutrition security in Nepal.
The position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Technical Manager will oversee program activities aimed at increasing agricultural productivity in target value chains and improving the efficiency and capacity of market actors.
Key responsibilities will likely include:
- Work with technical team to design activities related to agricultural productivity and market access/marketing.
- Develop approaches/methods to effectively engage private sector firms working in agriculture.
- Identify and work closely with agriculture market actors, particularly private sector actors, to improve capacity and services in rural areas.
- Liaise with financial institutions at multiple levels to increase farmer and agribusiness access to credit.
- Develop approaches and interventions that foster inclusion of vulnerable and disenfranchised populations.
Education:
- Master’s degree (equivalent) or higher in agribusiness, business, economics, or related field.
- 10 years of experience on agricultural/agribusiness/value chain development activities, with a focus on private sector engagement
- Experience assessing and building capacity of private sector firms
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and experience managing personnel/teams
- Experience working in agriculture in Asia, preferably South Asia
- Previous work experience in the private sector
- Demonstrated strong writing and oral presentation skills in English
- Knowledge of agriculture and markets
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong team player
