EFL’s success is based on 10 years of research and 6 years of operations. We spun off from a research initiative at the Harvard Kennedy School's Center for International Development in 2010, and now work with leading financial institutions in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. With offices in Boston, Lima, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Jakarta, Nairobi, and Bangalore, EFL improves loan decisions across the globe. We have been recognized and endorsed by leading development organizations such as the IFC, Inter-American Development Bank, and the G-20.
EFL has processed over $1 Billion in credit decisions over 20 emerging market countries since 2010. EFL has partnerships with both FICO and Equifax. Our data shows that the majority of loan applicants are declined for a lack of borrowing history, insufficient information in credit bureaus, and various bank policies, often uncorrelated with risk. These insights combined with our uniquely predictive tools create lending opportunities that would otherwise be impossible.
In 2016, EFL launched EFL Capital to evaluate risk and catalyze lending to rejected populations using its own balance sheet. EFL is now supplementing this capital with debt and creative funding vehicles to enable lending on the front lines of access to finance globally.
About the Position:
The Advisory Services Director is a permanent position based in India (either Bangalore or Mumbai) or Jakarta, Indonesia with responsibility for EFL clients across Africa and Asia. You will be directly responsible for the success of EFL’s regional portfolio of financial institution partners (including our biggest accounts) as they implement EFL’s cutting edge tools. The position requires deep familiarity and experience defining market strategy and commercial models and analysis of risk. You will be excellent at getting results, despite myriad operating environments, and you will manage a regional team of high performing Account Managers.
You'll get to experience leading and owning high-profile client success at an innovative tech company, where you'll be exposed to the intersection of big data, digital finance, and international development. This role is the definition of high impact as you partner directly with the C-suite with your creativity, your analytical skills, and your grit.
Responsibilities:
- Client and Portfolio Success
- Work directly with EFL Account Managers and the leadership of financial institutions to set the key pieces of strategy for a successful launch of EFL tools.
- Act as consultative partner to client to ensure partner maximizes success with EFL tools, including achievement of volume targets and renewal goals.
- Manage the overall P&L for the region.
- Team Leadership and Coaching
- Provide excellent coaching, management and leadership to a growing team of highly motivated and highly skilled Account Managers.
- Thought Leadership
- Partner with financial institutions across the region to determine best practices and provide penetrating insights on the performance of EFL’s financial institution partners.
- Proactively share these insights in industry events across Africa and Asia.
- Project/Implementation Scoping
- Although this is not a sales role, the Director will support regional Sales by participating in scoping potential new implementations of EFL tools at prospects.
- Strategic Innovation
- Proactively identify emerging strategic opportunities with partners and provide excellent leadership in realizing such opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS 4 year degree; advanced degree (MBA, relevant Master’s Degree) highly desirable
- 10+ years of consulting or service delivery experience, preferably within financial services.
- Familiarity with commercial and credit risk elements of retail financial services.
- Experience costing and managing projects.
- Professional experience in Asia.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing C-level client relationships.
- Experience with managing a globally dispersed team.
- Excellent in-person and written presentation skills.
- Excellent ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Fluency in English.

Location: Either India (Mumbai or Bangalore) or Jakarta, Indonesia. Success in this position will require significant time in the field at partner institutions across Africa and Asia. Consequently, the candidate should expect travel up to 50% of the time, domestically and internationally.
