OXFAM GB Job Vacancy: Livelihoods or Cash For Work Team Leader - Za'atari, Jordan

The job purpose is to assist Oxfam’s Livelihood programme in Za’atari refugee camp in the design and implementation of all activities and ensure that refugee households benefit from Oxfam projects. To ensure compliance and quality of deliverables of the livelihood project that has social and economic dimensions (market driven) by leading and orienting team.

Dimensions: · Work pattern is a mixture of proactive and project work and often high pressure. · Candidates will be required to make sound judgements regularly within agreed processes using a good understanding of the livelihoods Team and their abilities. · Communication is largely with internal staff and also with some external contacts/target audiences to support operational work · Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, willingness to learn, high levels of integrity and honesty and enthusiasm for humanitarian work · The role is based in Za’atari camp, therefore a willingness to work within the camp environment is essential for this role · The role requires daily communication with refugees (both staff and community members). The candidate should feel comfortable interacting regularly with Syrian refugees, able to manage and resolve complaints and conflict and provide clear and accurate information regarding Oxfam’s work in the camp. · This role involves a high degree of external representation of Oxfam with other humanitarian agencies mainly at field level, so experience in external coordination is required. In addition, livelihood activities require effective communication with potential both local and international partners

Skills & Comeptencies:

  • Experience in managing livelihoods programming.
  • Experience in staff manage mitigating conflicts and disputes between members of a community and community leaders
  • Experience in identifying vulnerable groups, elderly or other protection issues in a community and referring them to the appropriate agencies is a plus
  • Experience or willingness to work with refugees in a camp setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to collect, enter and analyse data;
  • Able to manage a dynamic team and workload and to prioritise tasks according to their urgency;
  • Experience of working in a multicultural team;
  • High level of English Language skills, Arabic is essential
  • Good coordination skills; and strong commitment to gender equality and social justice;
  • Proven knowledge of computerised systems, a high degree of computer literacy, especially word processing and spreadsheet skills
  • Ability and experience to train people;
  • Potential and flexibility of attitude to learn;
  • Able to work under pressure, ability to prioritise and commitment to meet deadlines
  • The post holder should be at ease in working with local communities and Syrian refugees.
  • Understanding of the aims and objectives of Oxfam.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action and to Oxfam’s equal opportunity and gender policies
