The organization
The IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative helps to accelerate and upscale sustainability within mainstream international commodity markets and producer landscapes, driving sustainability from niche to norm. We build ambitious public private coalitions of companies, civil society organizations and governments and high-impact programs in order to benefit people, planet and profit. With co-funding from the Dutch, Swiss, Danish and Norwegian governments, and from business partners, IDH organizes scoping, development and implementation of public private partnerships in 10 sectors such as coffee, tea, cotton and palm oil and in 11 landscapes worldwide.
IDH is a dynamic organization with app. 60 staff members based in Utrecht, The Netherlands and hubs in Asia and Africa. In the last year IDH has expanded its activities and now runs around 600 projects in 50 countries, together with a wide range of private and public partners.
IDH is recruiting a Head of Finance (36-40 hours)
Profile
You will be responsible for managing all finance from strategy to operations. Accountability to funders and the Supervisory Board, operational excellence in all financial cycles (corporate and programs) as well as team development will be your focus points.
You report to the Operational Director and support the EB in all F&A matters. You lead, develop and support your (6) Finance and (1) IT colleagues, building a solid and competent team. You will also lead the implementation and further development of our Management Information System, linking financial management & control to program and project management.
You are an energetic and inspiring people manager with an outstanding financial background, able to balance control and support. You are committed to sustainability and you like a broad set of responsibilities. Ideally you have fulfilled a similar role in an international ‘hybrid’ organization.
Responsibilities
- Accountability to the Executive Board (and through EB to funders and SB) for all financial reporting, including securing annually audited financial accounts;
- All forecasting, accounting and AO/IC of IDH corporate and IDH programs;
- Team development;
- Contribution to and additional responsibilities through Leadership team.
- 8+ years in international Financial Planning & Control, of which 3+ in a comparable management position;
- Experience in public/NGO finance & reporting;
- Demonstrated success in people, quality and process management;
- Change management track record around introduction of new information systems;
- Proactive, entrepreneurial and of highest integrity;
- Master degree in business economics, financial accounting or similar;
