Executive Director of ICC Canada
The Board of Directors of International China Concern Canada (ICC Canada) is seeking a new Executive Director to lead the Canadian operations of International China Concern. The current Director will be retiring in early 2018.
International China Concern is a Christian development organization working in China to provide care for the abandoned and disabled, and to prevent child abandonment. Our work is supported by a network of offices around the world, including ICC Canada, that raise profile, fundraise, and encourage volunteers to work in our projects in China.
The successful candidate must have:
- A minimum of five years working within Canadian not-for-profit organizations, and at least three years in a senior leadership position.
- A good understanding of the legal and compliance requirements for Canadian charities and be familiar with all the CRA guidelines that govern charities operating in Canada.
- A strong business acumen with proven results are required for this role.
- Proven success in marketing and fund development with innovative campaigns
- Strong experience in donor stewardship
- A relational leadership style to enable and mobilize a small team to reach its potential is desired
Reporting to ICC Canada's Board of Directors, your key responsibilities would be to provide:
- Organizational Leadership Provide overall leadership to the office and staff of ICC Canada and be accountable for the overall performance of the organization
- Ensure all of ICC Canada's legal and compliance requirements as a charitable organization are met. This includes adequate reporting for all funds sent to support ICC's projects in China are approved, accounted for and progress reports for programs are current and on target
- Act as the highest official representative of the organization
- Work with staff, board and CEO of ICC International to develop and implement a three-year strategic plan
- Develop a strategy for team building, coaching, personal development, and staff care
- Ensure the development and implementation of adequate operational systems, procedures and controls for the organization
- Hold the staff team accountable to performance related outcomes in line with the organization's strategic plan, through a process of regular feedback and annual performance evaluations
- Oversee the recruitment, development, evaluation and discipline of all staff and volunteers
- Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting on all organizational initiatives
- Work with the staff to develop the annual action plan and associated operating budget
- Network with other relevant ICC national and international representatives on initiatives and development opportunities
- Provide strong spiritual leadership and ensure all organizational decisions are being made in accordance with God’s word
- Build the Canadian donor and volunteer base with individual donors, church partners, major donors and corporate supporters by using activities such as; donor meetings, insight trips, China Teams, public speaking engagements, and events, etc.
- Work with the Chief Executive Officer of ICC International, design the overall development strategy for ICC Canada
- Increase the brand awareness of ICC in Canada, specifically in Vancouver and Toronto
- Cultivate and grow the ICC Child Sponsorship Program in Canada
- Develop a strategy to grow the number of monthly donors
- Strengthen ICC Canada’s ability to communicate effectively with Chinese supporters
- Engage in networking opportunities with like-minded agencies/organizations
- Advise the ICC Canada Board of Directors regarding planning, policy, programs, finances, public relations, and other related matters
- Develop the strategic plan for ICC Canada with input from staff, board and CEO of ICC Int’l. Implement the approved plan as directed by the board in order to strengthen ICC Canada’s presence and brand recognition on a national level, plus increase revenues year-on-year while ensuring ICC Canada remains aligned with ICC Int’l and its vision, mission and goals.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting to assist ICC Canada's Board of Directors to protect and direct the organization
- Inform the Board of any current or pending legal and financial risks facing the organization
- Attend all Board meetings as requested by the Board Chair
- Act as a non-voting member of the ICC Canada Board and any committee of ICC Canada as required
- Implement decisions approved by ICC Canada's Board of Directors
