CIFOR is looking for Research Officer
Overview
In 2008, CIFOR initiated the Global Comparative Study on REDD+ (GCS REDD+). It was designed in several modules with the aim to understand national REDD+ policy processes, learn from subnational REDD+ projects and develop solutions to technical constraints in measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) of emissions reductions, the synergy of REDD+ and adaptation, and their management at the landscape scale to facilitate adoption of low-carbon emission policies and measures. The goal is to provide REDD+ policymakers and practitioner communities with the information, analysis and tools they need to ensure the effective and cost-efficient reduction of carbon emissions with equitable impacts and co-benefits – the “3E” criteria.
Under GCS Module 1, a study of the national processes involving REDD+ is being carried out in 14 countries. The research officer will contribute by conducting research at the national level, maintaining the database that results from the Global Comparative Study on REDD+ Module 1, assisting in data analysis for the development of scientific journal articles (a specific country study and a comparative study), and providing administrative support in organizing workshop, training and knowledge-sharing events.
