Location: Indonesia; mainly field based
Closing date for applications: 30 September 2018
Start date: As soon as possible
Contract duration: Fixed-term 2-year contract, with opportunities to extend

Organisation Overview
Blue Ventures is an award-winning marine conservation organisation
working to rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities. We’re
committed to protecting marine biodiversity in ways that benefit coastal
people. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures
and economies, and where there is a fundamental unmet need to support
human development.
Summary Job Description
In Madagascar, Blue Ventures has pioneered an integrated approach
to locally-led mangrove management and we are looking to share our
experience with communities and organisations in the Asia-Pacific
region, and also learn from our collaborators in the process. Over the
past year, we have partnered with the Indonesian NGO Blue Forests (Yayasan Hutan Biru)
to scope for potential sites in Indonesia where such an approach might
be applicable. As this site selection nears completion, Blue Ventures is
seeking a Site Leader to launch and oversee the first of these sites,
as well as develop and nurture the partnerships on the ground – with
communities, local organisations, the private sector and the government –
that will be central to the success of the site.
This exciting position will work alongside our passionate, growing
team in Indonesia and will entail engaging with a diverse range of
stakeholders, supporting them to adapt and replicate our holistic
approach and foster a shared vision for effective community-led marine
management.
The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive, strategic
and highly organized individual, with a keen interest and passion for
working in the marine conservation sector and strong skills in building
relationships and supporting collaboration with multiple actors.
