GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR POLICY/RESEARCH BRIEF AND RESEARCH REPORT
Introduction
SNV is an international not-for-profit development organisation, working
in 38 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. SNV specializes in
supporting the resourcefulness of development actors by developing local
capacities, improving performance and services, strengthening
governance systems, helping to create access for excluded groups and by
making markets work for the poor. Our global team of advisors use their
specialist sector and change expertise in Agriculture, Renewable Energy
and WASH to facilitate sustainable change in the livelihoods of millions
of people living in poverty.
About Voice for Change Partnership Programme (V4CP)
In partnership with the International Food Policy Research Institute,
the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the
Kingdom of the Netherlands, SNV is launching in 2016 a five year
programme entitled Voice for Change Partnership (V4CP). The programme
will be implemented in 6 countries: Burkina-Faso, Honduras, Ghana,
Kenya, Rwanda and Indonesia. The programme's main goal is to support
progress in globally challenging topics related to the Sustainable
Development Goals, with a specific focus on inclusion and equity issues.
This goal is to be achieved by increasing Civil Society Organizations
(CSOs) capacities to participate, contribute and influence strategic
debates and policy-making processes. In Indonesia the specific theme for
advocacy are WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and FNS (Food and
Nutrition Security).
The specific objectives of the V4CP programme are determined as follows:
- Increase CSOs capacities in leadership, advocacy, utilisation of data and evidence, sector knowledge and business development
- Improve enabling environment in terms of improved policies,
frameworks, regulations, budget allocation, services, inclusive business
and accountability / collaborative mechanisms
Objectives
As the part of communication strategy of the program, design of research
and policy brief also research report as part of communication
materials are required in order to help SNV meet its growing need for
quality design services. The designer will provide technical support to
the project team in designing publication and improvement of the design
for policy brief, research brief and research results.
To design the layout, SNV is looking for a designer for policy/research
brief and research report. The objectives of the activity is to
translate the documents from English version to Bahasa (vice versa).
There are 12 documents from research that has been delivered to SNV in
order to be modified.
Scope of work
- Design layout (cover and content) of policy brief, research brief and research report for communication materials
- Improve and edit art-work, photos, illustrations, charts, diagrams, and other graphic elements within respective documents
- Ensure that the publications, reports and products are produced in line with SNV branding
- Deliver creative and innovative ideas toward the materials
Expected Deliverables:
Quality design for various SNV assignments completed in line with SNV
branding requirements and within specified deadlines. Submission of
final design shall be provided in pdf and in-design formats.

- FNS indicators from DHS report (English version) with total 24 pages
- FNS indicators from SUSENAS report (English version) with total 23 pages
- FNS survey results for NTB (English version) with total 29 pages
- FNS survey results for NTT (English version) with total 30 pages
- Sanifoam WASH report Lampung (Bahasa version) with total 77 pages
- Sanifoam WASH report West Sumatera (Bahasa version) with total 74 pages
- SSC Wash report (Bahasa version) with total 52 pages
- Policy brief FNS survey results Manggarai (Bahasa version) with total 4 pages
- Policy brief on IDHS (Bahasa version) with total 2 pages
- Policy brief on Susenas (Bahasa version) with total 2 pages
- Policy brief on IDHS (English version) with total 2 pages
- Policy brief on Susenas (Bahasa version) with total 2 pages
The consultant is also expected to provide 2 dummies for policy brief
(Policy brief SNV survey results Manggarai - 4 pages) and report (FNS
indicators from DHS - 23 pages), to be checked by SNV with design
specification as follow:
- A4 Size, full colour
- Front and back cover : Art carton 260gr, laminating doff;
- Inside part : Matte paper 210gr;
- Folded finishing (no ring), printing both sided
Timeline
The draft design is expected to be submitted by October 31st, 2018, with
1 day review and feedback from SNV. The final design is expected to be
submitted at the latest November 9th, 2018
Qualifications
The candidate is required to meet the following criteria:
- Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw.
- Show a clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements of SNV.
- Proven experience of graphic production from start to
published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset
and digital) and colour management;
- Knowledge of standard software packages, including MS Office- MS Access-MS Visio -Adobe Acrobat;
- Working experience in development or humanitarian environment is desirable
Payment
Payment will be paid upon completion services. Any negotiation on financial terms will be considered.
