Oxfam in Indonesia is currently seeking qualified candidates to support the organization responding to earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi;
What We Are Looking For:
PROTECTION OFFICER – Sulawesi Emergency Response.
JOB PURPOSE:
PROTECTION OFFICER – Sulawesi Emergency Response. (PO 0919)
Support the protection lead in the implementation of stand-alone protection projects and in providing guidance to other OXFAM teams (WASH, EFSVL, and GENDER) and local project partners in mainstreaming protection and gender in the sectoral responses for disaster affected communities
REQUIREMENTS:
PROTECTION OFFICER – Sulawesi Emergency Response.
- Hold a Bachelor degree in any major
- At least 2-year experience in humanitarian protection and GBV and/or gender
- A good understanding of fundamental human rights and humanitarian principles
- Knowledge of local government structure and INGOs, UN and NGOs in the Central Sulawesi
- Experience in implementation of humanitarian project activities
- Experience in working with partners (NGOs and local government)
- Capacity to critically analyses and articulate protection issues
- Strong ability to communicate orally and in writing in both Bahasa and English
- Commitment to Oxfam’s values, including promotion of equality and gender
- Excellent verbal and communication skills. Fluency in speaking any Central Sulawesi language and dialect.
PROTECTION OFFICER – Sulawesi Emergency Response.
- Ensure – through, clear weekly and monthly work planning is done with the team and the protection monitoring, and activities in the community centers (women, men and child friendly spaces) are carried out in a timely, effective and technically sound manner.
- Carry out regular focus group discussions and individual interviews ensuring that issues of women, men, girls, boys and people with special needs are identified and analysed
- Act as focal point for the identification and referral of vulnerable individuals and people with specific protection needs for adequate assistance while maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent following OXFAM’s SOPs, and that beneficiary or referred persons’ information is protected
- Maintain the database of referrals and ensure that information on the response of organisations on the referred cases are obtained
- Conduct follow-up monitoring visits to ensure that protection services have been provided and needs have been met in an appropriate manner and beneficiary have the opportunity to provide feedback on the assistance received.
- Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other selected topics in the community centers
- Conduct and maintain updated service mapping.
- Contribute to capacity building of staff, local organization partners, community groups, government partners on protection
- Support technical teams undertaking risk analyses linked to specific project activities, ensuring that protection concerns are taken into account in project implementation
- Support gender advisers in promoting gender mainstreaming in the humanitarian response
- Liaise with relevant local authorities and services providers in order to foster effective collaboration and encourage interest and commitment for the protection of IDPs
- Prepare weekly protection analysis monitoring reports and monthly project reports
- Provide constant feedback to supervisor on progress, lesson learnt, achievements and gaps, issues and problems.
