EcoNusa Foundation seeks to appoint a full-time Senior Program Associates candidates to support our ambitious EcoNusa Project Operation. EcoNusa Foundation is a nonprofit organization aiming to boost up various local initiatives at national and international levels in a bid to provide support to a sustainable and equal management of natural resources in Indonesia and in particular Eastern Indonesia.
Job Summary
The Research Analyst will be based in Jakarta to provide support in research, analysis, project managegent, and stakeholder engagement of Indonesia’s Climate related works, both at national and sub-national level. He/she will contribute to the development of high quality research products that are designed to inform targeted audiences and facilitate program management and development. Reporting to Program Director, he/she will coordinate with other key personnel of the projects. He/she will provide support in research analysis and necessary stakeholder engagement activities to achieve more ambitious targets from the government in combating climate change in forests and ocean issues and achieve sustainable development. He/she will liaise closely with the partners implementing similar programs as well as relevant agencies of the Goverment,local authorities and civil society.
Job Responsibilities
The Research Analyst’s main areas of responsibility will include the following:
Research (50%)
  • Identify knowledge gaps where EcoNusa research can produce meaningful improvements in the area of climate change policies and low carbon development practices across different levels.
  • Produce robust and unbiased research that help tackle the complex issues of climate change and sustainable development to inform relevant policy making processes.
  • Cultivate relationships to expand the audiences of climate portfolio knowledge products and outreach, and the uptake of the research and tools.
  • Lead or co-author knowledge products and review of publications draft, and to provide constructive feedback on publications coming out from EcoNusa.
  • Direct climate research plans and review of draft publications, blogs, press releases, and other research and communications materials developed by other colleagues to ensure they meet EcoNusa high standards of quality.
Management (25%)
  • Assist the management of climate portfolio staff, ensuring the work is effective and fully supported, and each planned deliverable and result are achieved.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with staff across EcoNusa and its network.
  • Support and promote the institutional development of EcoNusa as needed.
Outreach (25%)
  • Develop and deliver presentations at public speaking events, international fora, one-on-one meetings, and within internal EcoNusa.
  • Organizing internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences and other dissemination activities;
  • Write communication products, media coverage, and conduct media interviews to disseminate research products and sustainable climate agenda promoted by EcoNusa, which in turn will influence public, private sectors, Indonesia’s climate negotiators, and decision-maker perspectives to balance economic development and climate agenda.
Job Qualifications
  • Legally able to work in Jakarta
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, public policy, natural resource management, environmental economics, or a related field from a reputable institution required;
  • Minimum 5 years of fulltime work experience in a relevant field with strong research and program management in the area of climate and sustainable development.
  • Direct hands on experience in conducting desk and field research, writing reviews and reports related to topics mentioned above.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, working with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • High attention to details, well organized, and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Bahasa.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to travel when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in natural resource management, forestry, agriculture, environmental economics, law, public policy, or a related field from a reputable institution(s) preferred;
  • Strong network of relationships and partnerships with local governments (especially within the Ministry of Development Planning, Forestry Agency, Environmental Agency), civil society, and other stakeholders related to climate and sustainable development issues preferred;
  • Published article or journal related to climate change, low carbon development and natural resources management;
  • High integrity, passion for sustainable development, and good sense of humor preferred;
  • Professional fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Performance Standard:
  • Effective team work and communication;
  • Research activities and program management are expected to be carried out timely and satisfactory with minor supervision.
  • Must be capable of setting priorities and working under pressure.
  • Must be able to multi-task and planning several events simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well with internal and external participants is essential.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is imperative.
  • Knowledge of GIS is preferable.
