IKI PME Stakeholders Engagement and Communication Coordinator

IKI PME Stakeholders Engagement and Communication Coordinator will support stakeholder engagement and communications activities of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) Peat and Mangrove Ecosystems (IKI-PME) Project. The project aims to support large-scale peatland and mangrove conservation and management, climate change mitigation/adaptation, and sustainable landscape/forest conservation projects in Indonesia, both at the national level and provincial level (North Sumatra and West Papua). This position will be mainly responsible to implement IKI Project Stakeholders Engagement Plan and the Communications Strategy to achieve project objectives and outcomes with strong narratives that distributed through various types of communications materials and activities across multiple channels.
This position requires passionate personnel who have strong understanding of wetlands (specifically mangrove and peatland), climate change, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement. The position should have strong experience in stakeholder engagement at both national and provincial level, mainly with regards to the preparation and execution of communications activities and materials that requires coordination and collaboration with stakeholders. He/she must have proven writing skills, analytic, creativity and must be able to perform under pressure. The position will be working directly under supervision of IKI PME Senior Project Manager, and collaboratively working with Conservation International team, the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), and Wetlands International Indonesia (WII). This position will not directly supervise staff, but will technically supervise external services (consultants, vendor, and communications teams in North Sumatra and West Papua).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stakeholders Engagement
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plan for the IKI-PME project to support project objectives, in collaboration with Conservation International team, CIFOR and WII
- Establish and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders in national and provincial level (when necessary), including government agencies, private sector, NGOs, media, and other stakeholders.
- Supervise the regular process of updating the project stakeholder database, and maintain regular communications to key stakeholders through various communications means, i.e., greeting card, quarterly updates, etc.
- Support stakeholder engagement efforts in the production of key communications materials and/or project activities, mainly those stakeholders at the national level.
Strategic Communications: Implement project communications at the national and provincial level.
- Supervise the implementation of IKI-PME Project communications strategy and plan at the national and provincial level, including but not limited to communications activities, field outreach, communications materials, the knowledge products, and other collaterals that are required by the Project.
- Actively involved in national and international communications initiatives/materials in close collaboration with the National Communications Manager and partners (Bappenas, CIFOR, WII) as necessary to promote the visibility of IKI-PME project at national and international platforms.
- Lead and review the development of North Sumatra and West Papua landscape project’s communications materials to increase local stakeholder’s awareness about the PMEs/climate change/sustainable landscape related issues, call to action, and outreach, according to the communications plan, in close coordination with Sundaland Program Director and West Papua Landscape Senior Manager.
- Organize multiple communications activities/initiatives at the national and provincial level (when necessary), including the series of online workshops, virtual tour, meetings/consultations, etc.
Knowledge Management:
- Supervise the maintenance of updates in IKI PME Project Sharepoint as a Knowledge Management platform, by regularly updating all final documents and assets.
- Support the development of IKI-PME reports (bi-annual, annual, quarterly updates to German Embassy in Indonesia), etc.
- Organize workshops/FGD/meetings, etc. and provide technical support/advice from the stakeholder engagement and communications perspectives.
- Review and publish various knowledge products following the standard guideline/quality of Conservation International.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires high passionate individual who have strong understanding of wetlands (specifically mangrove and peatland), climate change, and environmental issues, as well as stakeholder landscape in both national and provincial level (North Sumatra and West Papua) i.e., political sensitivities, government’s priorities, and commitment, as well as traditional knowledge.
- At least 7 years of experience working in development sector, preferably in environmental NGO with solid experience in developing project communications strategy and lead the stakeholder engagement plan to support project activities.
- Solid experience in developing various high-quality communications products, i.e. video, infographics, project profiles, articles, policy brief, etc. (in both English and Indonesia) and organizing high-level communications activities, specifically for environmental-related projects in non-profit sector, with excellent writing skills in creating various communications products to a wide range of audience.
- Solid understanding on stakeholder engagement strategy with proven track record in achieving results through an effective stakeholder engagement plan/strategy.
- Ability to translate technical reports into popular materials to various types of stakeholders, tailored to key target audience based on the specific communications objectives.
- Basic understanding in behaviour-change communications and ability to develop communications materials with human centre approach.Ability to travel to field sites/remote areas and able to effectively perform in irregular working hours, with multiple short deadlines that requires high quality products.
