The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is part of the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement, the world's largest independent humanitarian organization. The movement has three parts: The National Societies, the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The SRC is supporting the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) in its humanitarian response in Ukraine. To coordinate the SRC’s support at national level, we are seeking a Country Coordinator Ukraine based in Kyiv, Ukraine.
What you will be doing
- Coordinate and manage the program and partnership with the URCS at national level, including definition and adaptation of the program strategy and monitoring its implementation, and using synergies among programs and projects in Ukraine and in the region
- Maintain close exchange with SRC Headquarters on all strategic and operational matters, and ensure that the program is aligned to the SRC strategy and relevant concepts and technical competences
- Provide guidance and support to the SRC field offices in the management and implementation of the various response, recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation activities (Shelter/WASH, Cash- and Voucher Assistance, Health, National Society & Branch Development)
- Coordinate SRC’s support to URCS HQ, including’ National Society Development and all national-level initiatives (i.e. strengthening resource mobilization and home-based care).
- Overall security management for the SRC personnel in country
- Participatory facilitation of project and proposal design as well as monitoring and evaluation processes, and development of relevant joint monitoring and accountability systems with URCS
- Ensure that the SRC is represented in all relevant coordination mechanisms
- Coordinate grant applications and reporting processes to donor agencies and SRC-internal mechanisms
- Assume responsibility for the financial and administrative management of the SRC’s program and projects with URCS, and oversee financial reporting, evaluations and audits.
Your profile
- University degree in management, international cooperation, social sciences or a related discipline with at least 8 years of relevant professional experience
- At least 5 years of proven experience in the coordination and management of large programs, partnerships and teams in fragile contexts, preferably in humanitarian response or international cooperation
- Analytical and strategic thinking, with strong leadership, facilitation and participatory management skills
- Solid experience in financial management and administration of humanitarian or development operations
- Diplomacy, sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt to a fast challenging work environment
- Proficient written and spoken English; a good command of Ukrainian or Russian language is an asset
- Experience with working in the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
