Together with YKAN, The Community Development Specialist develops, manages and advances conservation programs, plans and methods for small to medium scale geographic areas.

As a Community Development Specialist engages with communities-and provides supports to communities in natural resource management. They use the full range of participatory methods, tools, and processes to meaningfully engage communities in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program. They provide administrative and project management support and other general assistance to program staff and consultants working towards the achievement of social objectives, conservation, or stewardship goals.
The Community Development Specialist will be based in Berau, East Kalimantan and report Community Development Manager.

What You’ll Bring:
- BA/BS, law or business degree and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience negotiating complex agreements.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
- Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
- Experience with principles of land acquisition.
- Experience in training and curriculum design.
- Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
