Enggang (Pekan) Sdn Bhd operates the 𝗣𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 (#PPRP) – a large-scale flagship carbon project. We are seeking a Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) Officer to join our 70-strong team based in Pekan, Malaysia.

The MRV Officer will support the management of data from all monitoring tasks across climate, community and biodiversity workstreams. The MRV Officer will report to the MRV Manager.

As part of our commitment to local participation and inclusion, priority was first given to candidates from communities surrounding the project site. Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the planning and coordination of hydrological and carbon-related fieldwork, including piezometer, weather and burnt scar data collection as well as canal blocking activities.
  • Perform routine inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hydrological assets and equipment (e.g., weather stations, water-level sensors, data loggers, handheld computer). Update maintenance schedules, including calibration and preventive maintenance, particularly for hydrological monitoring equipment.
  • Identify fire-prone areas using up-to-date hotspot data, groundwater level information, and weather station data.
  • Track, organize, maintain, and update Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning database in line with the annual work plans and monitoring plans.
  • Assist in QAQC of any inflowing data from field teams, ensuring that all documentation for stakeholder engagements, hydrological monitoring, forest patrol, encroachment, fire and deforestation incidents and response are well sorted and stored.
  • Support in other data analysis and create visualizations such as maps, charts, and graphs for reporting.
  • Assist in quarterly reporting and ensure data and documentation gaps are filled for annual verification reports and audit events.

R̲e̲qu̲i̲r̲e̲m̲e̲n̲t̲s̲

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; 1–3 years of relevant experience is an added advantage.
  • Interest and understanding in forest conservation; field experience in hydrological and forestry fieldwork is an added advantage.
  • Skills in GIS and statistical tools are an added advantage.
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors, including in peatland environments.
